Peach Orchard Farm 

Farm owner and respected physical therapist Linda Steadman (pictured above as a child) has been a life long lover of horses and has personally witnessed the beneficial relationship between horse and child.  She is thrilled to be able to offer pediatric physical therapy incorporating horseback riding and hippotherapy at the farm.

Below is a letter from Linda to parents considering this type of therapy.

Dear Parents:

I have been using horseback riding therapy and hippotherapy in my treatments for several years, and I am trained by the nationally recognized Barnes Hippotherapy Program. 

Why horseback riding?  The gentle, rhythmic movements of the horse simulate the walking movements in the pelvis of an able-bodied person.  These movements cultivate a sense of balance and coordination in the rider that cannot be gained from other forms of therapy.

With specialized equipment, games and exercises performed on the horse, the physical therapist uses the horses's movement to improve posture, balance, mobility and function.

Horseback riding provides a rare opportunity for individuals to enjoy the outdoors free of wheelchairs, walkers or crutches, which rejuvenates the spirit as much as the body.

Because of these benefits, I am thrilled to offer this therapy in the scenic and natural environment of my family's 40 acre horse farm.  We have renovated a century old dairy barn which serves as the focal point and therapy center for the program.

Your children will be able to experience the unique environment of a fading era - a quiet, well mannered horse or pony, a beautiful old red barn, and time spent outdoors discovering all that they can do.
